Trompe Loeil was founded in 2007 by Cory Edo as a creative side outlet to building Second Life experiences professionally with the Electric Sheep Company. Some of Cory’s work with ESC included clients such as Warner Brothers (the I Am Legend: Survival movie tie-in game), W Hotels, Ben Folds, CBS, iVillage, STA Travel, and other national and international brands. After two years with ESC in the role of Lead Art Designer and Project Manager, the company decided to concentrate on non-SL work and Cory remained on the grid to devote her creative energy to the Trompe Loeil brand.
In 2012, Cory’s partner Makaio Stygian began contributing his 7 years of experience creating mesh and scripted items for sale under the Trompe Loeil name. Makaio’s resume includes building and scripting work for Warner Bros., Geek Squad, STA Travel, W Hotels and more through his years with Electric Sheep Company.
Prior to joining ESC, Cory and Makaio formed Tiny Seadog, an independent creative design firm in Second Life that counted the first BBC Newsnight inworld segment among their projects.
